Why Not Look Into the Rear Window?
The film directed, by Alfred Hitchcock, is about an wheelchair bound photographer (James Stewart) looking out into his neighborhood from his rear window. He sees many people that are eccentric characters and of varied lifestyles. His peeping tom ways soon get him into deep waters, as well as his girlfriend (Grace Kelly), when he suspects a neighbor of foul play.
I have to say right off that I am a fan of Grace Kelley. So, immediately I like this film. Her wonderful comic timing in a mystery like this is something to watch. I keep on wanting to think that maybe she is playing a joke on James Stewarts’ character, but as the film came to a close, I thought otherwise. The cinematography in this film was astonishing. The lighting and camera angles build the suspense. The darkness that James Stewarts hides in is the best example. When most films have music in the background, I enjoyed the change of pace with one of the neighbors being a pianist. Throughout the film you hear him play, and it always fit’s the situation. The end surprised me greatly, but I do love it so.
